Well in as much as this update should have been release before now and seems to be quite late, am sure it is still goodnews to its user, given the flagship status of the phone. However, it is better late than never. Thus, we are happy to let you know – especially if you are an owner of the LG V20 – that the Oreo update for your unit has finally started to roll out. The first versions that will be getting the update will be those released in the manufacturer’s home country of South Korea. Of course, a global rollout will commence afterwards.

From what has been seen, you will need to clear up more than 1.6GB of space to hold the update. Likewise, it is recommended that you connect to a strong Wi-Fi network to update your phone so that you don’t incur additional mobile data charges.

On getting the update, you will be bumped to the Android 8.0 Oreo level, not the latest Oreo 8.1. The good news is that the official changelog still lists a lot of other things that the update brings with it.

Asides the general bug fixes and improvements, there are new icon shapes, better battery performance options, improved usability and settings layout, to mention but a few.

Going by past experience, LG will usually send out its updates to South Koreans first to test the compatibility and smoothness of the patch. Should everything run smoothly, other regions will begin to get theirs very soon too.
