Android Device running on 4.0.3 and above now supports Skype

Skype is an app which had over 1 billion downloads on playstore and was selected as Editors’ Choice for face-to-face video calling apps.

Microsoft announced in a blog post today, that a new version of Skype has been released with optimizations for device running on Android 4.0.3 to 5.1 lollipop.

The updated app has not started rolling out yet; the company announced it will start rolling in the next few days to all users around the world.

The company also said the updated Skype app is “lighter on both disk and memory consumption, allowing for greater speed and better video and audio quality on lower end Android devices, as well as increased performance in challenging network conditions”.

I think this is a great technological innovation from Microsoft that will help users save data and increase smartphone performance when using the Skype app.
