Alibaba, chinese giant tech company has launched it’s own smart speaker to join the smart speaker trend. The speaker is called Tianmao Jingling X1 in chinese and Tmall Genie X1 in english.
Tianmao JinglingX1 (Tmall Genie X1) is made to rival against Amazon alexa and google home. The Smart-speaker currently can only speak Mandarin and not English yet. EMarketer expects that nearly 36 million Americans will use a smart speaker at least once a month this year — a jump of almost 130 percent over last year. This stats shows that there is still room for Tianmao JinglingX1, but when it supports English.
Speaking of rivals, search enigne giant Baidu has the Xiaoyu Zaijia and JD.com has the LingLong DingDong, These brands are chinese and the all battle within Mandarin smart speakers but alibaba is sure Tmall Genie X1’s artificial intelligence, troves of data and huge e-commerce platform will make it a leader. At a press conference in Beijing, an Alibaba executive said the Tmall Genie X1 already has “hundreds of skills” in music, entertainment, online shopping, fitness and education.
The Tianmao JinglingX1 (Tmall Genie X1) will cost the equivalent of $73 for the first 1,000 people purchasing one during a one month trial when it goes on sale.
